Als 1979 der Tamiya Rough Rider auf den Markt kam, war er absolut revolution\u00e4r. Er wurde f\u00fcr den harten Off-Road-Einsatz gebaut (seinen Namen hat er ja nicht von ungef\u00e4hr).
\nDie meisten Teile, komplette Radaufh\u00e4ngungen, Getriebe etc. waren aus Aluguss.<\/p>\n

Die Elektronik brachte man ihn einer wasserdichten Kunststoffbox unter. Damit konnte man ohne Probleme durch eine gr\u00f6ssere Pf\u00fctze fahren.<\/p>\n

Man darf es eigentlich nicht tun, aber vergleicht man trotzdem den Rough Rider und die bau\u00e4hnlichen SandScorcher, SuperChamp etc. mit sp\u00e4teren Off-Roadern, merkt man ziemlich schnell, dass das Aluguss eben doch nicht so toll war im harten Einsatz. Der Verschleiss war doch etwas zu gross. Aber wie gesagt, es waren damals andere Zeiten!<\/p>\n

Vor Jahren (irgenwann Mitte der 80’er) bekam ich einen RoughRider von einem damaligen Arbeitskollegen. Er war ziemlich heruntergekommen (NICHT der Arbeitskollege!).\u00a0Lange hatte ich\u00a0keine Ahnung, um was f\u00fcr ein Modell es sich handelte, denn das Web kam erst etwa 15 Jahre sp\u00e4ter ;-). Es war schwierig\u00a0an Ersatzteile zu kommen. Irgendwann kam ich durch Zufall noch an ein gleiches Modell mit zus\u00e4tzlichen Ersatzteilen heran. Nun hatte ich zwei RoughRider, die jahrelang darauf warteten, wieder flott gemacht zu werden. Damit habe ich 2005 begonnen.<\/p>\n

Eines dieser beiden Modelle habe ich nun m\u00fchsam restauriert. Leider\u00a0bekam ich nie\u00a0eine Original-Karosserie und konnte auch keine mehr auftreiben. Ich entschloss mich also eine sogenannte Replika einzusetzen. Eine gleich aussehende Karosserie aus Lexan, die\u00a0 ich auf Ebay erstanden habe.<\/p>\n

Erg\u00e4nzung (2009):<\/strong> Anscheinend wurde auf einer Messe in Japan ein ReRelease (Neuauflage) von dem legend\u00e4ren RoughRider vorgestellt. Bilder sind hier zu sehen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Erg\u00e4nzung (2010):<\/strong> Der Tamiya Rough Rider wurde tats\u00e4chlich neu herausgebracht. Aber unter einem leicht anderen Namen und einigen kleinen \u00c4nderungen an gewissen Teilen: Buggy-Champ<\/a>. Ebenfalls wird der SandScorcher<\/a> wieder verkauft.<\/p>\n
